Essential Duties & Tasks

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including:

  • Taking primary ownership of the effectiveness of the A/P function, including recruitment, training, and mentoring of A/P staff; communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to the A/P function; understanding the risks associated with the A/P cycle and actively working to mitigate those risks
  • Assisting with management of the month-end close cycle to ensure the fastest and most accurate financial data
  • Advising executives on impact of accounting policy decisions; helping to shape policy decisions
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement to existing processes
  • Understanding and implementing new accounting pronouncements and regulatory updates
  • Assisting in the preparation of bank compliance documents/processes
  • Ensuring financial records comply with company policies, bank compliance requirements and GAAP professional standards
  • Acting as a liaison to external auditors in preparation of annual financial statements as multi-state corporate tax returns
  • Assisting with additional special projects as assigned by the Controller or CFO

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following attributes:

  • Well-organized, detail oriented, and able to handle a dynamic work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to encourage and influence others
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Ability to complete multiple duties with accuracy shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web browsers
  • Resourcefulness and ability to self-start


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience in public accounting with exposure to clients in the professional services industry
  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory role

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak & comprehend English
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout the work shift.
  • Must be able to travel locally monthly/bi-monthly and out of state quarterly/semi-annually
