Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is currently seeking a licensed Civil Engineer for our Santa Ana, CA office supporting our Civil Engineering department.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language
  • Work cooperatively with others

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Creates CAD drawings for land surveying and civil engineering projects
  • Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
  • Using a range of computer packages for developing detailed designs
  • Undertaking complex and repetitive calculations
  • Liaising with clients and a variety of professionals including architects and builders/contractors
  • Compiling job specs and supervising tendering procedures
  • Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems
  • Making sure the project complies with legal requirements
  • Managing change, as the client may change their mind about the design, and ensuring relevant parties are notified of changes in the project
  • Compiling, checking and approving reports
  • Reviewing and approving project drawings
  • Using computer-aided design (CAD) packages for designing projects
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects
  • Prepare civil engineering construction plans including but not limited to Grading Plans, Street Plans, Water and Sewer Plans…
  • Prepare hydrology study reports
  • Perform hydraulic calculations
  • Design and prepare Water Quality Management Plans (WQMP)
  • Design and prepare Standard Urban Stormwater Mitigation Plans (SUSMP)
  • Design and prepare Low Impact Development (LID) plans.

Working as a civil engineer you may be required to work away from home for periods of time. Frequent visits to sites may also be necessary, especially for new graduates. While regular office hours are the norm, you may have to work long days and some weekends close to project deadlines. Overnight and weekend stays may be required for site inspections.

Environmental Conditions: Outdoor environment; travel from site to site; work closely with others and alone; potential exposure to inclement weather; may be exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, and poison oak; may be exposed to traffic conditions.

Physical Conditions: Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking over uneven surfaces and standing for extended periods of time; some stooping, crawling, crouching, and climbing; heavy lifting, hammering and carrying; audiovisual acuity, manual and physical dexterity.
