SUMMARY

Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is actively seeking a full-time Surety professional to work in our Santa Ana, CA office.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Desktop Review

  • Identify claim type, parties involved and issue
  • Compile a list of documents to request
  • Review contract documents to determine requirements
  • Review and interpret construction project related documents, including but not limited to: contracts, construction drawings, and project specifications
  • Analyze back-up documentation
  • Provide a verbal and/or written summary of our findings and opinions Field

Monitoring/Supervision

  • Identify the issue and parties involved
  • Determine Project Status
    • Remaining Scope
      • Review and analyze contractor and subcontractor payment applications and surety payments to contractors and subcontractors
      • Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimating
      • Visit the site and identify percentage complete based on what is installed to date
    • Remaining Funds
      • Review and analyze contractor and subcontractor payment applications and surety payments to contractors and subcontractors
      • Review and analyze contractor and subcontractor change orders and negotiate change order payment amounts
  • Project Relet and Ratification of Subcontractors
    • Prepare bid package, request contractor and/or subcontractor bids, review bids received, provide recommendation and assist with ratification
  • Field Work Supervision
    • Communicate with subcontractors/vendors on a day-to-day basis
    • Monitor and assess construction performance and record construction activities to ensure compliance with construction documents
    • Monitor, review and analyze contractor and subcontractor change orders and negotiate change order payment amounts
    • Review and analyze contractor and subcontractor payment applications and surety payments to contractors and subcontractors
    • Manage project close-out including: as-built drawings, certificates of occupancy, lien waivers, punch lists, operations and maintenance manuals, testing and commissioning, training, and warranties
    • Prepare construction progress update reports with photos and graphics
    • Prepare technical reports with photos and graphics
    • Report any potential surety payment and performance bond exposure
    • Report any potential fidelity bond exposure

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree from accredited university in Engineering or Construction Management or minimum of 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in Construction industry
  • Previous surety consulting experience, preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use ladders to reach roof
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain
