John Insall, LEP

Mr. John Insall, LEP has more than 27 years of national diversified environmental consulting experience working with major engineering firms across the United States. Before coming to Partner in 2014, he worked in both the public and private sectors as a client manager and environmental scientist, developing extensive expertise in due diligence, site remediation, and compliance auditing.

As a site remediation expert, Mr. Insall has completed innovative remediation projects to reduce clients' costs and liability, including:

  • In-situ chemical oxidation to address chlorinated solvent releases
  • Metals fixation in soils and groundwater
  • Soil vapor extraction
  • Capping and engineered control design at aerospace manufacturing facilities, dry-cleaners, laboratories, and redevelopment sites. 

Over the last ten years, Mr. Insall has developed expertise in polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) remediation at a broad range of industrial properties and redevelopment projects, many of which have resulted in significant reductions in costs by focusing on re-use of impacted soils, and negotiating with EPA and state regulators to reduce materials that need to be disposed off-site. In addition, he has extensive experience in petroleum remediation including light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPL) recovery and bio-remediation, underground storage tank management, evaluation, removal, and remediation.

Mr. Insall has completed numerous due diligence investigations for commercial and industrial sites in the context of sales, acquisitions, lending, and risk control due diligence assessments. Most frequently, he has conducted Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), subsurface investigations, remedial and site closure cost estimating, and negotiating indemnification agreements. He also has experience in conducting multi-media compliance audits for national railroads, corporations, and private equity firms, sustainability consulting, industrial hygiene, hazardous building materials, and emergency response.
