Jonathan Kalfus, P.E.

Mr. Kalfus currently serves as a Project Manager at Partner, where he leverages three decades of experience in engineering design, process development, project oversight and team leadership towards increasing electrical engineering capabilities and operating efficiencies across Partner’s renewable resources endeavors in the commercial real estate industry. His duties include reviewing project scopes, providing technical engineering insight into solar module development and integration, and leading client-facing communication and project updates.

Mr. Kalfus has over 30 years of hands-on experience designing and managing electrical and mechanical engineering projects across many market channels and industries. This includes the renewable energy sector (solar, energy storage, electric vehicles, transportable hybrid (solar-battery-diesel) generators); utility-scale power generation; commercial power design and power conversion; medical devices; military forward operating base (FOB) applications; wireless communications; LED driver and lighting systems; low voltage signaling; and numerous high technology product applications specific to customer needs.

Prior to joining Partner, Mr. Kalfus led the engineering, manufacturing, customer service, accounting/budgeting and business development departments for two renewables technology companies. He also helped launch a successful solar start-up company that produced a first-of-its-kind, utility-scale distributed energy resource “AC module.” Mr. Kalfus also has extensive experience in leading development for various high-technology power product design. Over the last 12 years, his focus has been on developing businesses and leading growth strategies for agile organizations.

Mr. Kalfus developed his expertise in electrical safety by working for Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), where he was responsible for the safety certification of thousands of products, as well as teaching classes about information technology equipment (ITE) and medical device safety requirements. He helped write many UL and international regulatory safety standards, most recently in the area of renewable energy (ex: solar inverters and electric vehicle battery chargers, among others). He has sat on both UL and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards-writing teams, including overseeing a decade-long project to create an international safety standard for solar AC modules. He is an internationally recognized as a solar energy subject matter expert.

He has served as a board member for MSEIA (Mid-Atlantic Solar Energy Industries Association) and has been on several discussion panels to speak on subjects related to solar energy. Mr. Kalfus also served as a member of ANSI (American National Standards Institute), as a U.S. delegate representing the U.S. National Committee to the IEC.
