Continuous Soil Core Sampling is a drilling technique that can be performed using hollow-stem auger drilling equipment. A 5-ft long split-spoon sampler is set inside of the hollow stem auger and is pushed ahead of the drilling bit into undisturbed soil. The sample obtained is a continuous undisturbed column of soil or very soft rock material. This cannot be performed in very dense soil and is difficult in very dry/loose soil.
