Lynn Smith Joins Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. as a Relationship Manager

Brings environmental and business expertise to project development

Lynn P. Smith, P.G., a senior Environmental Professional and seasoned business development consultant, has joined Partner Engineering and Science Inc. (Partner), an international due diligence, design and construction risk management firm headquartered in Torrance, California, as a Relationship Manager.

Based out of Partner’s Chicago, Illinois office, Ms. Smith brings over 20 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry. She has performed hundreds of environmental due diligence assessments in her career, overseeing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), site remediation and closure services, and transaction consulting for residential developments; commercial/industrial properties; municipal Brownfield sites; and transportation and infrastructure improvement projects. In addition to managing, training and coordinating environmental due diligence teams, Ms. Smith’s expertise includes project/program management, business development, and RFP/IFB/RFQ/RFI proposal preparation. Ms. Smith will oversee business development, environmental assessment services and ongoing client management for Partner’s broad scope of commercial real estate projects.

For the last six years, Ms. Smith has been a senior environmental due diligence manager at a Chicago-based firm, where she directed the environmental due diligence program and staff while managing a roster of clients and participating in business development. Ms. Smith served as an Environmental Emerging Issues Leader and is continually developing her knowledge of the latest issues in the environmental world, such as PFAS and climate change.

Previously, Ms. Smith has been a Senior Proposals Manager at a global hazardous waste collection, chemical disposal, and recycling solutions firm; an Environmental Group Manager at a global Canadian consulting, design, and construction services firm specializing in Oil and Gas, mining, manufacturing, power, and infrastructure firm; and occupied Project Manager and Principal Consultant positions at national environmental and remediation services firms.

Some of Ms. Smith’s representative recent projects include overseeing environmental due diligence of a large industrial project involving the redevelopment of a major Chicago industrial steel site into a neighborhood revitalization center;  managing the due diligence, remediation and regulatory closure of industrial site redeveloped to major commercial retail center on Chicago’s South Side; and managing nationwide portfolio disposition due diligence for major steel manufacturers and  commercial retailer. Ms. Smith has a diverse array of clients across the commercial real estate sector, industrial property stakeholders, developers, disposition and acquisition stakeholders, as well as public and private entities.

Ms. Smith has a Bachelors degree in geology from the Southern Illinois University College of Science in Carbondale, IL. She is a licensed Professional Geologist in the State of Texas and completed a successful training course in project management from the Project Management Institute and Zweig White & Associates. She is a board member and newsletter contributor to the Indiana and Illinois chapters of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG), an associate member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a recurring member of the Committee E50 on Environmental Assessment, Risk Management, and Corrective Action, and a multiple committee member of Commercial Real Estate Executive Women (CREW), Chicago chapter.
