Orlando is Panelist on Strafford Stormwater Webinar

Division President Ralph Orlando, PE participated in a webinar on Stormwater Discharge and CWA Compliance on September 9th, 2014.

New Jersey — Partner Engineering and Science Inc., an environmental and engineering consulting and design firm, had Division President Ralph Orlando, PE particpate in a webinar, Stormwater Discharge and CWA Compliance After EPA Rule Revisions and Recent High Profile Spills, put on by Strafford on September 9th, 2014. The webinar was intended for legal council as Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit, and focused on "Navigating EPA Permitting Requirements, Overcoming Challenges for State Discharge Permits, and Leveraging Lessons From Recent Enforcement".

The catalyst for the webinar was the Envionmental Protection Agency (EPA) revising the CWA construction stormwater rule effective May 5, 2014. States are changing their permitting process to meet the new EPA requirments. The EPA is also in the process of updating its stormwater strategy, posing current and potential challenges to those who must be permitted. This CLE webinar reviewed the revised EPA stormwater discharge permit requirements, outlined best practices for complying with the permitting process, and explored trends among state agencies issueing stormwater discharge permits. Ralph Orlando, PE joined environmental lawyers in addressing these issues as an authority in the civil engineering and permitting component.
