Water in the Mojave Desert

Andy Zdon (PG, CHg, CEG), Technical Director of Partner's Water Resources Division, recently published findings from a survey conducted into the springs in California's Mojave Desert in the Desert Report. The survey was funded by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Nature Conservancy (TNC), and aimed to collect data to enable a greater understanding and better management of the springs. Specifically, a key objective of this work was to initiate a long-term, periodic monitoring effort to identify potential impacts to springs before irreversible effects of future groundwater developments actually occur, and to identify any future modifications that may occur due to climate change.
