Will Colorado's New Construction Defects Law Revive its Stagnant Condo Market?

Lane Schwarzberg, National Client Manager based in Denver, spoke to Construction Dive about changes to Colorado's construction defect law. A new reform bill, which provides some liability protection for developers by requiring majority homeowner consent before legal action can be taken for building defects, aims to encourage condominium development in the hot Colorado market. 

Lane said, "Since the late 1970s, the construction defect law has grown into its own industry, generally focused on condominium projects at a large expense to contractors and [the] insurance carriers that underwrite commercial general liability policies."
