Partner Acquires Azimi Pearsall & Associates

By Partner ESI

TORRANCE, CA. – Partner Engineering & Science Inc., has acquired Azimi Pearsall and Associates, a land surveying and civil engineering firm, which represents a major expansion of Partner’s design practice on the west coast. With the acquisition, the firm’s former president, Ali Azimi, joins Partner to fill the newly created position of Technical Director of Civil Engineering and CFO/Project Manager Ron Warrecker joins Partner to continue in his role of Project Manager.

Partner, a California-based engineering, environmental and energy consulting and design firm, has been actively expanding its “solutions” services nationwide to support real estate development, rehabilitation, asset optimization, site remediation and other challenging projects. This was notably demonstrated with the 2013 acquisition of the assets of New Jersey based engineering and consulting firm Birdsall Services Group. “Now, the addition of the Azimi Pearsall and Associates to the Partner family will substantially augment our ability to provide civil engineering and land surveying in California and the west coast,” says Partner CEO Joseph Derhake, PE.

Azimi Pearsall and Associates, an established and well known civil engineering and land surveying firm in southern California, has roots dating back to 1913. Having been in business for over 100 years, the firm has a substantial portfolio of work as well as an extensive library of historical land surveying data and field notes.

Azimi was the lead project engineer for a 70-lot subdivision design for 70 single-family residences in Whittier, CA. He designed a grading plan, street improvement plan, and utility plans for water, sewer, and storm drain. He was also the project civil engineer for Biomat, a 16,709 square-foot 2-story commercial building on a 1.6 acre lot, which was a dual agency review that went through the City of Bellflower and Caltrans. The project included design and preparation of Standard Urban Stormwater Mitigation Plan (SUSMP) and Caltrans right-of-way improvements. Working through the project’s life cycle from ground up survey, design, and construction, he worked together with the City and Caltrans to come up with a permeable paving technology for handling stormwater run-off.

With over 30 years of experience working in the commercial real estate and title industry, Azimi will spearhead the expansion of Partner’s West Coast turnkey design services practice. Azimi, who is a Registered Professional Civil Engineer and Licensed Land Surveyor in the State of California, has been qualified by the California Superior court as an expert in both Civil Engineering and Land Surveying disciplines. Prior to founding his own practice, Azimi served as Vice President in charge of the national environmental and engineering division at First American. A notable expert in his field, Azimi is on the Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists where he consults on, designs, and reviews questions for both the civil engineering and land surveying licensing exam.

“I have known Ali for ten years and I am confident he will take our civil engineering practice on the West coast to the next level”, said Joseph Derhake, CEO of Partner. “He is an ambitious entrepreneur and I am extremely excited to bring him to our team. I know that he will be an integral part of the successful growth of our business and infrastructure nationwide.”

Ron Warrecker has been a land surveyor and small business owner for 37 years. He has recorded hundreds of subdivision maps and has acted as a consultant to many southern California cities as their subdivision map checker. While preparing the detailed calculations and coordination for the construction surveying for two 3,200 foot underground tunnel rails for the San Francisco Municipal Rail System, standard practices were not possible. Warrecker took a unique approach by using references from the ceiling of the tunnel instead of from the ground in order to respond to tolerances required for railway.

Azimi is eager to marry his entrepreneurial background with Partner’s extensive professional resources and national presence. “I have teamed up with Partner on a number of projects in the past and I am excited to join a group of talented individuals that I have history with,” Azimi says “Expanding Partner’s civil engineering practice to the west coast will be a substantial undertaking, but I thrive on challenges and am excited to get started!” Azimi plans to work closely with Partner’s west coast land surveying team led by Chris Daniels.

Azimi has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master in Business Administration in Information Systems from California State University of Long Beach, as well as a black belt in karate. Warrecker has taken numerous courses in land surveying, boundaries, legal descriptions, geology and engineering at Orange Coast College as well as Rancho Santiago College.
