COLUMBUS, OH – Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. (Partner), a national engineering, environmental and energy consulting firm has been rated the number one service provider of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in Ohio for the third-quarter of 2014 by Environmental Data Resources, Inc. (EDR) ScoreKeeper. The firm was also ranked the top provider by volume nationally.
Partner was again ranked as the top-performing firm in Ohio, where it has professional staff located in Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, and Cincinnati. As the number one provider, Partner now has a 5% market share in the environmental due diligence space, which is up 2 percent from the same time last year.
Because due diligence services such as Phase I ESAs are generally required three to four weeks prior to closing or development, they act as a barometer of commercial real estate and construction trends. Nationally, Partner saw a 32.7% year-to-year increase in the number of Phase I ESAs it performed.
Steve Kitzke, Partner’s Director of Operations, explains that this increase in demand for Partner’s environmental due diligence services is not only indicative of the performance of the CRE industry as a whole. “This strong quarter is also reflective of the industry-wide trend of consolidation. Guidelines for better 3rd party risk management practices such as those recommended in the recently revised OCC handbook are driving many borrowers and lenders toward bigger and more stable due diligence firms. With our national footprint and large environmental staff, we have been well-placed to service this demand,” he said.
By volume, the number of Phase I ESAs performed by Partner increased by more than 30% in the 3rd quarter of 2014 compared to the same time last year. Following the harsh winter that affected CRE transactions and development in the region, activity is now coming back strong.

EDR Scorekeeper also ranked Partner as the top provider of ESAs nationally, and in the following states: California, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Nevaha, New Jersey, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
