Environmental consultants are hired to identify whether contamination is present and may have an adverse impact on water, air, or land. An environmental consultant makes effort to fully assess a site and research previous investigations and historical uses using available resources. Depending on the results of those investigations, the consultant may be engaged to provide further subsurface investigation, laboratory sample analysis, and/or mitigation solutions.
