Miller Act

The Miller Act is a U.S. law enacted in 1935 that requires certain public construction projects to be guaranteed by both a performance bond, which protects the project owner in the event of default by the contractor, and a payment bond, which protects subcontractors and suppliers in the event of nonpayment by the contractor.
