A pocket penetrometer test (ASTM WK27337) can be performed on undisturbed soil samples obtained from drilling to determine the undrained shear strength of the soil in the field or lab. The undrained shear strength can be used to calculate soil bearing capacity, settlement, and lateral pressures.
