Undisturbed soil samples or “relatively” undisturbed soil samples are driven or pushed into virgin ground. Standard Penetration Test (SPT) split-spoon samples are the most common, however, Shelby tubes, Modified Ring Samplers, 6-inch brass sleeves, and continuous core samples are also used.
