Partner Announces New Hires in New Jersey

By Partner ESI

Eatontown, NJ – Partner Engineering and Science Inc. (Partner), a California-based engineering, environmental, and energy consulting firm, has announced that Bruce Connell, PE, PP, CME, David Bachman, Stewart Alexander, PE, PP, CME, and Rocco Palmieri, PE, PP, CME, have joined Partner’s Eatontown, NJ office. Partner has long had a strong presence in New Jersey, choosing it as the second state in which to open an office after the firm’s founding in California. Their footprint in the region significantly expanded in 2013 when the company acquired Birdsall Services Group (BSG), a local engineering and consulting firm. Since acquiring BSG, Partner’s New Jersey office has experienced rapid growth, with 17 new hires to the office since July 2013.

“New Jersey and the northeast is an important region for Partner – we look at this area as our east-coast ’intellectual brain center,’ says Frank Romeo, east coast director of operations for Partner. “Expanding our presence here has allowed us to grow and cultivate certain practices, including landscape architecture, land development, MEP design, health and safety and environmental services.”

Mr. Connell and Mr. Bachman were formerly with BSG. Mr. Connell, who joins the firm as a Senior Project Manager, brings 30 years of experience and extensive expertise in all aspects of site civil engineering for retail, commercial, industrial and residential development. His expertise also includes marine development, which is a key asset in this region with many coastal communities. Mr. Bachman comes to Partner as a senior assessor with more than 25 years of experience in the environmental services industry, including large-scale remediation projects, biological assessments and wetland delineation. Mr. Bachman has also performed many complex Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), of which Partner is the No.1 provider in the United States.

As National Client Manager with Partner, Mr. Alexander brings to the firm a diversified engineering background that spans more than 40 years. With extensive experience throughout the Tri-State area, he brings specific expertise to the firm with regards to energy and sustainability, facilities design, municipal engineering, and land development.

Mr. Palmieri, an expert in residential, commercial and industrial development, as well as public capital improvement projects, joins Partner as a Project Manager, with more than 37 years of progressive experience. He is a member of the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers and New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors. “We have been fortunate to retain and recruit some of the top talent in the market, and the addition of Bruce, David, Stewart and Rocco really reflect that,” said Ralph Orlando, division president for Partner’s New Jersey-based consulting and engineering practice. “We’re leveraging the substantial depth of our team to integrate our various areas of expertise in order to better serve our clients and develop groundbreaking projects in the region,” said Orlando.

One of Partner’s recent high profile projects in the region includes the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design as well as fire protection design for a new MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper in Camden NJ. The new 103,000 square-foot, four story, $100-million treatment center on the Cooper campus is a multi-disciplinary facility designed to be a serene, calming environment for a full spectrum of treatments and support services.

The Partner New Jersey group is also teaming with Saint Peter’s University on the new McGinley Square Saint Peter’s Tower project in Jersey City. Partner is providing survey, site engineering, environmental, geotechnical and MEP services for the project, which lies within the McGinley Square East Redevelopment Area. The project will transform an existing surface parking lot into a mixed-use high-rise with below-grade parking. An adjacent parcel will also be developed into a neighborhood park, which will complement the tower.

Partner also continues to serve many public entities, such as their home county of Monmouth, where Partner is currently providing services on improvement and restoration projects within the Monmouth County Parks System. For the Hartshorne Woods Park at Claypit Creek in Middletown, Partner is assisting with park upgrades, including trails, parking, a kayak launch and new bulkhead along the Creek, by providing civil, structural and regulatory permitting services. Partner also provided survey, design, permitting and construction services for the stabilization and restoration of the Dune at Bayshore Waterfront Park, also in Middletown, which was constructed in 2013. An additional project proposes stabilization to a tributary of the Shark River in Tinton Falls to maintain the stream corridor and minimize downstream sedimentation. The stream corridor, which has been deteriorating for years, was impacted by more recent severe weather, including Superstorm Sandy in the fall of 2012. Construction on the tributary is anticipated in summer 2014.
