Mr. Roberts serves as Technical Director of Industrial Hygiene. His responsibilities include managing national portfolios, providing senior report review, and preparing technical resources for the sales force, clients, and project managers. He serves as the regulatory expert for nationwide industrial hygiene projects in various states where a knowledge of state regulations governing asbestos and lead hazards is critical to the successful management of client portfolios. He coordinates and directs project managers and staff among Partner’s three dozen offices providing $2 million of industrial hygiene services annually for asbestos, lead, mold, radon, indoor air quality assessments, and abatement oversight.
Mr. Roberts’ experience includes more than 20 years conducting asbestos and lead surveys, site characterizations, and indoor air quality testing for commercial and industrial clients. He has managed large multi-year asbestos surveys and lead paint inspections for Los Angeles World Airports and served as the project manager for multiple Los Angeles Unified School District lead-in-soil testing projects at proposed school sites.
Mr. Roberts recently managed a large lead-based paint inspection and asbestos survey of the 1921 Woolworth’s building in Los Angeles, California. The survey of the 3-story, 76,000-square-foot building identified 28,000 linear feet of asbestos pipe insulation behind walls and ceilings, and 15,000 square feet of vinyl asbestos floor tile/mastic. Partner oversaw asbestos abatement activities and stabilization of lead-based paint, and abatement of thermal system insulation. The abatement process included exploratory demolition to trace pipe runs and risers throughout the building uncovering a previously sealed mezzanine.
Mr. Roberts has also directed site characterization projects with heavy metal-contaminated soil and asbestos-contaminated soil for real estate developers and industrial facilities. He has prepared technical reports with appropriate recommendations, developed specifications for abatement, and provided contractor oversight.
Mr. Roberts’ diverse client base has included dozens of state agencies across the nation, HUD lead inspections, commercial real estate portfolios, and the management of multi-state portfolios for financial institutions such as JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo Bank.
