Partner Engineering and Science, Inc., is pleased to announce the expansion of its Environmental Solutions (ES) Group with the addition of Steve McKnight, P.G., M.S., joining Partner as Regional Director for the Northwest ES team. McKnight will also serve as Partner’s National Senior Technical Director for Green and Sustainable Remediation (GSR), and Sea Level/Climate Change impacts related to contaminated sites due to his extensive experience as a subject matter expert in these specialties.
With more than 30 years of national and international consulting and high-level project management/technical leadership experience, McKnight brings a wealth of expertise to Partner’s growing ES team. McKnight has led the development and management of major environmental investigation and remediation projects for a wide array of state and federal regulatory agencies, including California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA), United States (US) EPA, US Navy, State of Hawaii, etc. and major private clients such as Chevron and Flint Group. He holds major government contract experience including US Navy CLEAN and USEPA START programs and has performed evaluations of the potential impact of sea level rise and climate change on contaminated sites for the US Navy, CalTrans, and Shell. McKnight is well versed in environmental consulting, regulatory agency closure negotiations, and overseeing projects from small property transactions to multi-million-dollar remediation projects.
McKnight’s professional history includes significant tenures with some of the top industry leaders; spending a decade with URS Corporation, now AECOM, where he managed complex projects such as the comprehensive investigation and remediation of a multi-contaminant historical ink factory in Berkeley, California. Following his time at URS, McKnight joined ERRG, where he developed a keen interest in green and sustainable remediation (GSR) practices. Most recently, he spent almost 14 years with AECOM, becoming a subject matter expert in GSR as well as sea level rise and climate change assessments related to contaminated sites.
As Regional Director for Northwest Environmental Solutions, McKnight will oversee operations in Northern California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. His responsibilities include serving as senior technical and regulatory negotiations leadership for all projects within the region, supporting and managing his team, and working with Partner’s Client Relationship Managers to spearhead business growth and technical presence in the region, with a particular focus on expanding Partner’s presence in Oakland and San Francisco.
In addition to his regional responsibilities, McKnight will also serve as Partner’s National Senior Technical Director for GSR, where he will support the growing need for this approach to environmental site remediation throughout Partner’s Environmental Solutions Group. He will support Partner Energy with Sea Level Rise Assessments as needed for his niche clients.
McKnight’s addition is one major example that underscores Partner’s commitment to growth and excellence in environmental consulting services. The addition of McKnight to Partner’s team represents a significant expansion of the firm’s Environmental Solutions practice. His expertise in complex environmental projects, regulatory compliance, and sustainable remediation techniques will enhance Partner’s ability to serve clients across a wide range of industries and geographical locations.
“We are thrilled to welcome Steve McKnight to our team,” said Suzi Rosen, Managing Director for Environmental Solutions at Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. “His extensive experience and diverse skill sets will be invaluable as we continue to grow our Environmental Solutions services in the Northwest Region. I know Steve will also be a great contributor to expanding our GSR offerings to our clients nationally. This expansion reflects our commitment to providing comprehensive, innovative, and sustainable solutions to our clients’ environmental challenges.”
McKnight expressed enthusiasm about joining Partner, citing the opportunity for personal growth and the company’s expansion-oriented model. He looks forward to working on a broader range of projects with faster turnaround times, allowing him to make a more immediate impact across various environmental initiatives.
With this strategic hire, Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is poised to enhance its environmental solutions offerings and continue its commitment to sustainable and innovative practices in the field. The company’s expanded expertise will benefit clients across multiple sectors, addressing increasingly complex environmental challenges with cutting-edge solutions and industry-leading talent.
