Sergio Blanco Joins Partner’s Solar Practice

FORT LAUDERDALE—March 26, 2019—Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. (Partner), a California-based engineering, environmental and energy consulting firm, has announced that Sergio Blanco, MBA, has joined Partner as a Senior Project Manager for their growing Renewable Energy Practice. Bringing over 15 years of experience guiding financial feasibility, mergers and acquisitions, and due diligence for solar generation projects, Mr. Blanco will provide operational support for existing clients, as well as growing business development in emerging national and international energy sectors.

Gage Kellogg, Director of the Renewable Energy practice at Partner, expressed excitement about the opportunity that the addition of Mr. Blanco brings to the team. “Sergio is a perfect fit for Partner, both technically and culturally,” says Mr. Kellogg. “He has a wealth of industry specific expertise, including financial and acquisition experience, which grows our in-house expertise. Likewise, Partner’s many multidisciplinary specialties will provide Sergio with an excellent corporate platform to provide better solutions for stakeholders across the entire project due diligence and project development lifecycle.”

Mr. Blanco was the Regional Manager of Latin America for multiple prominent international solar project developers.  He supported the entire Mergers and Acquisition process of more than 100 MW’s of solar projects across the Americas.  His responsibilities spanned the entire M&A process from initial due diligence to transaction closing, directing financial and solar production modeling teams, site design, project accounting, feasibility reports and other physical site assessments. Mr. Blanco created custom financial models and strategies for his company and financing partner including investment banks and major financing institutions.

Additionally, Mr. Blanco served as the Chief Marketing Officer for GE Capital Latin America where he supported new product development and equipment and project financing solutions to conventional and renewable energy companies in the region.  Mr. Blanco also led the successful efforts to introduce the Net Metering (Regulation on Distributed Generation) Bill in Chile in 2012, and the signature of the Renewable Energy Agreement between Chile and the USA in 2011.

“The solar industry is in such a formative moment with tremendous room for growth and development,” says Mr. Blanco. “Solar is one of the cheapest forms of energy, and the cost of implementing the technology goes down every day. Municipalities and States are so much more open to solar development on a legislative and infrastructure level, and utility companies have even begun partnering with companies to optimize the implementation. The opportunities for entrepreneurial investments in the renewables market are limitless.”

Mr. Blanco derived success in the renewables sector by leveraging a multi-disciplinary approach connecting different industries (for example water, mining, energy, pumping systems, multimodal transportation, and finances) to come up with the best and most comprehensive solutions.  With the many services that Partner provides to support the entire lifecycle of a renewable energy asset across the production chain, Mr. Blanco sees a similar opportunity to apply systems-based energy solutions for clients from the underwriting and financing phase to property development and ongoing building operations.

Mr. Blanco has a Master of Business Administration from the AB Freeman School of Business at Tulane University and a Certified Public Accountant registration from Universidad Cristobal Colon in Mexico. His training includes energy infrastructure project finance and photovoltaic solar project development.
