Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. was engaged to perform a variety of services for a new Starbucks Reserve flagship location within Chicago’s premier commercial district, Magnificent Mile. This is the largest Starbucks in the world, approximately 20 times larger than a typical location. The multi-scope services Partner provided ranged from Environmental Due Diligence and Property Condition Assessments to Construction Risk Management services.
The project included the core and shell work necessary to convert the existing Crate & Barrel store into a new concept, four-story “Roastery” for Starbucks that includes a 5th floor rooftop terrace and basement for back of house, totaling 34,477 SF (interior area) and 47,410 gross square foot area. The project consisted of the demolition of the interior and select exterior items, followed by core construction. The work includes the installation of a spiral escalator, straight elevators between levels two and four, structural improvements, storefront and exterior wall modifications, roof terraces, and upgraded mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
